In order to move away from the mass production mindset and throw-away nature of the fashion industry, we need to value craft and handiwork again and start to bring these skills back into affordable fashion. My line is an ode to the time when garments were crafted by hand and valued for the effort, time and cost that each piece required, or when jewelry was a family heirloom meant to be passed along, carrying a story and emotional value. With thoughtful and intentional design, we can create handmade products that have longevity beyond ourselves.

Realistically, I don’t know what the next year looks like or where I will be headquartered down the line due to the volatile and ever-changing nature of our world. With this in mind, I am building my company to be adaptable to any environment or situation. I am working in tandem with my surroundings and the people and resources around me. I’m devoted to growing my brand through collaboration with skilled craftspeople and small businesses across the world, and through utilizing local resources to create products.

At the end of the day, it’s a pearl necklace.

And while you don’t necessarily need it, I think it represents a small emotional timestamp of the current climate, and how we can adapt and be creative, no matter what. There are so many stereotypes and associations with pearls in our culture — My line was created with none of those in mind. These are precious, one of a kind, little bits of beauty meant to bring you back to yourself. They are pieces meant for any and every person. It’s hard to throw one on and not feel a little more elegant, even in gym shorts.
